The Idea
In my new business, I need some machines to draw, cut, and more the pieces of my products. As well as some parts need to be designed from scratch, sometimes there are a lot of failures, waste printing, waste cutting, etc; and those represent MONEY. So, to low that wasted money, I think in a way to not to purchase so much Ink for the inkjet printer, it costs a lot. How about a way to draw a test part with a pen, or pencil, or similar; and voila, comes this CNC machine inspired in many design examples available in Internet: my own DrawBot
The Design
This days, if You wanna save money, lower costs, You MUST FIRST design in 3D; so you can figure it out how much parts, you need, it measure, it size; and THEN, You can invest purchasing those parts to bring your design into reality.
To do so, I used the free version of SketchUp, an online Web app capable of in a easy to learn way build a 3D model:
For this project, I intent to buy nothing, only use the spare Openbuilds parts I have, from other projects prototypes like my F-Ender-Plus or my ACRO System CNC w/80W Laser still in progress. So, with that in mind, I build my 3D Model to figure how to build my DrawBot at no more money invest, and then, SAVE in a futures prototypes by drawing parts at low cost.
The Assembly
Very soon, in this section, a detailed assembly guide, not necessary for experts, because the goal of building this machine, is build some easy, cheap, and fast to get working machine... and I think I got it, thanks that Openbuilds parts let the builders to easily turn the ideas into reality.
Here some marvelous tutorials how to assembly belt driven linear actuators just like I used in my DrawBot, simple, and easy to get parts, and assembly.
The Pen Holder
The 3D Printed Pen Holder, here the instructable I follow to get mine. and some pictures you can use to guide yourself to bring yours into reality. This is not a minor issue, it's a very important one, a good pen holder, sure result in a very good drawing. Take care about those springs You're going to use, the spring compression force should not be too much strong.
Testing
In this, I try to learn about position, zero position, set zero position, reset zero position, etc, etc etc. The limit switches are optional, BUT, if You really protect your DrawBot, YOU MUST install those, on for x-axis, and one for y-axis, BETTER, two for each axis: minimum and maximum position. Also, care about the timing belts adjusting, any lose on them, will result in a no-accuracy drawing, as I get in my first drawings as shown bellow.

Turning my prototypes into real objects, it will be required a great amount of drawings, A LOT. Therefore, against the ink costs raise price push me to think in a way to draw models, blueprints, etc. at very, VERY low cost. This is where my DrawBot was born

Special Notes
Check the spring compression force. If you put one with a high force, the servo (small sg90) WILL SOON exhaust... so learn from my mistake.
