A lot has to do with the bit, also the way your spindle is mounted. Not knocking ya in any way I feel you jumped into aluminum a little to quick....
You will really only effect your max resolution with different pulleys and belts, compensation is made in micro stepping settings see the reprap...
I had to make an adjustment in the slots for the motor mounts as a few, found them to be to tight of a fit, the updated files are now uploaded...
