My Blacklash piece is suuuuuuper tight. Even without the side screw installed. I can turn it by hand but barely. I cant imagine the motor we be able to. Is it supposed to be like that?
Have you put it in crooked? Did you make sure the backlash nut was at rest in its default position? They can be a little tight, to begin with, and will loosen off with wear, but it should be able to turn a little.
Hi Campbell, is the screw and the nut both from Openbuilds? their screw and nut is slightly smaller than other 8mm screws out there, so the nut is not compatible with all tr8*8. Cheers Gary
Gray, Definitely not crooked. I even took it off the plate and just ran the screw by itself Gary. Yes both from openbuild. you think if I hand screw it long enough it'll relax enough to run on its own? Would WD40 or graphite be ok or is that a no no?
Some people have chucked it in a drill and ran it up and down a few times to loosen, the two I have started very smooth and free, if it doesn't free up contact the parts store and they will help you out. I would not use wd40, you can use teflon spray or other dry lube, grease and wd40 just attracts more dirt, could try graphite.
Also we have found that during the tapping process sometimes the delrin will leave little bits of plastic still attached on the inside and this can cause a very tight fit where it almost feels cross threaded. If you do the drill tip above with some silicone spray it will break it in nicely. If you find that does not work for you please reach out to the Part Store and they will glad to help you out.
