    Hi,
I just finished assembling the LEAD 1010 CNC and my laptop won't connect to xPRO v4. The laptop is connected via USB and I grabbed the latest Openbuilds Control. When I turn the power supply on router light turns on, double checked wiring, steppers engage. When I try to connect to control it says "PORT ERROR: Opening null: file not found" (see screenshot).

    Thanks,
    davabran

    LEAD 1010, xPRO v4, nema 23 steppers, & 24V ps

Download the Arduino IDE software at Arduino - Software and install it. This will install the USB driver.

You can verify if the USB is recognized on the Device Manager

Instead of the whole arduino package, you really dont need. Just grab the correct FDTI VCP drivers here: Virtual COM Port Drivers

Make sure that your laptop is plugged into wall outlet and disable power-saving features.

Ok installed the Arduino software and then the port drivers without initial success. I had to manually update the drivers in the device manager to get it updated. Now it works! Thanks for everyone's suggestions. I look forward hanging around this forum.
