Great to hear @Craig Hollabaugh thank you. OpenBuilds Team member @Matthew Bates gets the props here as he did all of the videos and worked really hard to get them out in time. We love how well they turned out! Great job Matt!

Matthew, your choice to demonstrate the complete placement of every assembly screw, washer, wheel, nut, etc shows that you've helped a lot of kit of builders. People will watch your video and build their machines correctly. Something the traditional assembly manual fails to accomplish. Thanks for the effort. I'm looking forward to my 1010 build in a few weeks. Good luck guys with fulfillment this week.

It looks like the spoiler board measurements on the 1010 build page are for the 1510. Can you confirm that the measurements are 33 1/4” X 39 3/8” for the workbee 1010. Really lookin forward to starting the build this week, and just want to make sure I am ready when it shows up. Thanks.

As always, another great build @Mark Carew!
It's seems that @Matthew Bates did a very detailed and easy to follow build video. Good job Matthew.
It's really nice to have the Workbee offered by Openbuilds, especially after the machine has proven itself as a workhorse CNC.
Workbee has a lot of potential!

Looking forward to receive & start building my 1010 Workbee!
    Great job team!

Will be getting a kit in a couple of weeks. Just one Question for a newbee, what are the pro's & cons of GBRL vs Mach3.
    Answer greatly appreciated.

Ok, the build video is wrong on the first Y plate. He says to add the eccentric spacers, shim, then a regular 6mm spacer then a wheel, then 9mm, then wheel then spacer then other eccentric spacer. There shouldn’t be any regular 6mm spacers on the bottom. Just eccentric, shim, wheel, 9mm spacer, wheel, shim, then 6mm spacer. The top one should have the 6mm spacer, shim, wheel, 9mm spacer, wheel, shim, then 6mm spacer.

Travis, are you referring to figure 2.2.2 in the WorkBee-Screw-Assembly-Manual.pdf?

I’m referring to the youtube setup video. It’s incorrect. But yes, that is the part.

Where is the assembly manual at? Is that the Ooznest manual?

I was in the process of adapting several designs to come up with what I think I want when y'all posted the WorkBees which appears to get me 90% there. I was looking at tall Ox plates to get some extra Z axis though I was concerned about flex. I'm thinking that I can replace the 20x40 on the ends with 20x80 to drop the spoil board 40mm and get ~100mm of Z without hitting anything. Thanks for the detailed SU models! It made applying my mod simple. This is the modified version at the low Z:

Do you see any issues with the change? Could there be a flex issue at the low Z position?

I am on step 7 of the video, and it says to use 30mm screws for the X plate carriage system plate. There are no 30mm m5's in the kit, so I assume this should be the 27mm M5 screws.

@Travis Macken thanks for the feedback on the build video. @Matthew Bates is correcting that error and will be uploading the new video as soon as its complete.
On the 30mm screws on step 7, we actually found that the 27mm had more flush looking better so we switched to the 27mm and did not update the build video.
This was the first build video so some inconsistencies like this are expected to pop up here and there, we are just thankful that we have the guys here helping us to get it fixed.
Thanks again Travis for your help.

I agree 27mm fits well. Another change for the video, mounting the z-axis plate to the x-axis says to use 25mm m5’s, I believe that should be 20mm M5’s as I didn’t have any 25mm M5 left. Also thanks for labeling all the measurements on the parts bags, it has been very helpful. I’m almost done with the build, so I don’t think there will be any more corrections.

Can anybody tell me if there’s a problem with this Nema 23? The second one in the video is loud compared to the other three motors I have. Almost like something in it is grinding.

Hi Travis. Thanks again for the helpful feedback. You built this one super quick! Nice job.
On the NEMA 23 Motor that loud and rough feeling is due to the coil wires touching. If you separate the wires this should run smoothly.
In fact, this is a good way to figure out where your two coils are in your stepper motor. If you hold red and green together, it should be hard to turn which should be one coil. If you hold blue and yellow together you will have the same results as this is coil 2. When you are connecting to your driver board this is how you would connect it - coil 1 and coil 2 side by side. We have some wiring diagrams on the way.

Got my kit yesterday and did all my "chores" this morning before build start. Your shipping department did a fantastic job stuffing my entire kit into a single box. They deserve a pizza! I'd hate to see your monthly u-line bill, oh my!

Finished up my build today, just need to wire it up. I think my Wife may not want me running it on the dining room table.

I spent a couple days looking over the new kits, trying to decide which I wanted to build first. When the free shipping notice arrived today I had to make a choice and it had to be today! :) Congrats to the Open Builds team that put this kit out and put together the options that had to be most desired by us builders.

I do have one question - I typically use NEMA 23 425oz stepper motors for builds in this size and wonder if the smaller size steppers that are supplied will be adequate? I really cannot say that there is a specific reason I use the bigger motors except that there is little price difference and a thought that more power than what is required is better than too little power.

Congrats to all involved with these new offerings - I'm certain that many other builders like me will be keeping you and UPS busy soon!

Good luck with the build.
Maybe start a new thread and take us with you on the build?
We love to watch and hear how you get on. :)
