You'll need to make a change in the back where the corner brackets are. Otherwise the shim's lip won't sit flush. Don't ask me how I know this. You aren't the first to miss that and probably not the last either. As long as I'm at it, you will probably want to make sure you have at least .5mm clearance between the spindle mount and your 3D printed shim. Again, don't ask me how I know this...

Thanks Phil. My kit won't arrive until Tuesday, but I didn't realize that bracket came that close to the edge of the opening. That'll be an easy fix in the file. (So will the other.) I'll post an update next Tuesday or Wednesday.
(I'm not asking, but I hope you didn't print mine out to know that....)

You might hold off on printing this yet. I had a response on thingiverse reporting it was "too small". I just received my kit this weekend, unboxed it, and checked the spindle mount. It measured 70.75mm ID, so that would make it "small" . (I designed exactly 71 and 65.) I will adjust the files (and test) in the next day or two. I will update the files on thingiverse and post here when available.

    Thanks for your patience.

Generally with 3D printed parts that have to fit into something else, I leave a .5mm gap. Your printer may need less (or more :) ).

I've update the mount. It should fit now (it does for my Makita). I don't know how to upload more than one STL file in the update. I attached all three to this post. I also provided a link to thingiverse in the update text.

Thank you very much for making this, I am hoping it will fit my 65mm 1.5 kw water cooled spindle that arrived today, I did do a quick search for a Makita 65mm shim for openbuilds on thinginverse with no joy then looked here and found this.

Many thanks for saving me the time having to design one, will be printing tomorrow as excited at getting that spindle running!!

    Cheers

    Neil, Sitges spain.

Does anyone know where I can get a file for an adapter like this, but adapt down to 54mm?
