The purpose of this build is to create a simple, strong modular build that is rugged enough to cut out some of the softer metals along with wood and plastics. Using basic parts like the universal plates, t-nuts and v- wheels coupled with the strength of C-Beam I am sure this will deliever the desired results!!

    John and Jamie,

    Looks like it's a dead end here, but, I can tell you that I've build a similar machine when the C-Beam was not released yet. The idea what you see here to use 2 standard V-Slot gantry plates was used in my build as well and I can tell you that it holds up perfectly, especially with the V-Slot going from one plate to the other reinforces those plates tremendously (and was needed as well). Reducing the Z-axis height will make this build a lot more stable. Personally I would not go over 100mm of Z-axis travel and use the new anti-backlash Acme blocks. you can also use 2 Acme blocks, one on every gantry plate on every side of the X-axis; this will reduce vibration (at over 2000mm/min) and even a bit more of backlash.
