Good evening. This may be a stupid question, and I'm sure there's a good reason for this, but... On the LEAD 1515...why isn't the work area on the x-axis a full 48"? Thx, rink.
Not specifically sure as I've never built one but looking at the model the X-axis gantry smacks the side plates at 48" and you have to leave a bit of stand off each side so you can't really claim the full 48". Move the whole gantry system up a bit to where the gantry plates clear and you should be able to do a full 48".
Hi Rink, on the Y it's just the Y plates you have to subtract from the travel, but on the x its the X carriage and the Y Rails on both sides. The gantry plates are on the outside of the Y rails. Cheers Gary
Thank you. Not critical, I just wondered if there was a technical reason for designing all those components in such a way that the assembled capacity is just short of what I would consider an intuitive size. (Of course, my opinions are rarely of any value!) Based on my reading of this forum over the last couple years…I’m sure there is a good reason. Thx, rink.
