Hello all, Last week I had the bad luck that my machine, 1510, lost steps. The Z axis plunged down into my workpiece. Of course I was at my machine but the workpiece has been lost. After an extensive investigation, one of the motor cables was found to be broken inside the cable chain. Fortunately I still had some excess length and I was able to solve the problem. Now it is not the first time that cables break because I have already had it twice with my XYZ probe. You will only notice that the cable is broken when the bit makes contact with the probe and does not stop. Now I use my machine every working day and that means that the cables are also subject to wear. Now I have to say that those cables are also very thin and can therefore break very quickly with all the consequences that entails. Is there anything that can be done about this? I like to hear it. Sincerely Bert Klappe Translated with Google.
I've been using stepper cable like this one for 4 years with no issues. for the probe I replaced my lead with a 20awg silicone high strand very flexible wire.
Hi Gary, I didn't mention it but I've been using the standard shielded cables from Openbuilds for all my motors so I think that should be fine. Bert
Hi Gary, I immediately ordered 20 meters of this cable in case it happens again. Thank you for the link. Bert
