I purchased 30 sets of the Xtreme Solid V Wheel white wheel sets for my CNC in late Feburary from the openbuilds store. I been having some moving issues the last month and noticed today I have 12 of them on the 2 Y axis and Z axis that have wear down and breaking apart. While I do use my machine a lot as a hobbiest. So the questions, 1. Should these start to wear so soon on the cnc machine so quickly. 2. So when I replace the wheels is their a easy way to remove the bearings. They appear to be ok so I really don't want to spend the $$ to buy new bearings. 3. On each Axis gantry assembly I have a total of 8 wheels, for the X-Gantry and 2 X Y-Gantrys. I have seen more wear on the top vs the bottom wheels. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance
No, this is not normal. Xtreme wheels should be far more durable. Photos would be helpful in working through this.
Here 2 pics to show the groves that started and how the wheels are breaking apart. I have 14 of the 30 in different stages.
Hello. We are sorry to hear this - definitely not normal wear for our Xtreme Solid V Wheels. Can you confirm that you have not used any synthetic lubricating oils or cutting oils on these wheels? Also, please feel free to reach out to us at http://support.openbuilds.com/support/home regarding. We will be happy to work with you on a resolve.
In more inspection it looks like it more serious that first thought. I pulled some of them today. Looks like so far 15 of 16 have damage. I still have another 14 to pull off to examine. I have not used any type of oil, etc on the system as I read about this issue before I built the system in February. I did reach out last night and they did ship me 14 kits today. I though it was more locallized to the top wheels but after pulling the 2 of the gantry plates look like it about 90% of them. Urg.
