What do I have to do to get a bent rail that came with new machine. I sent pics and sku # to support, now do I just wait or should I try and bend it back, it’s at the end of a 20x40
For order/shipping/store queries, please contact the OpenBuilds Partstore directly by logging a ticket on http://support.openbuilds.com - to ensure the correct team assists you. Thanks
you wouldnt happen to have the stl files for your linear rail carriage to 2040 end holder ( the yellow holder thingys)
I bought a OpenBuild Used. I am having trouble setting it up. Are there Tech's in the Houston area that could help?

They probably do but I have no idea where. That's not my area (I do physical build questions). Posing the question in the open forum would give you a much better probability of an answer.

Hello Jorge Please have a look to ensure you have installed the latest drivers - https://docs.openbuilds.com/doku.php?id=docs:blackbox:install-drivers Also please know you can reach out on the support forum to find answers as well. -https://openbuilds.com/forums/controller-boards.28/
Scotty, I just go around to upgrading my mini mill to your MMXL (nice build by the way) the question I have is about your gantry DXF file the holes look to be too far apart for the c-beam I'm measuring 116.3 mm between the wheels is this correct?
Good afternoon friends I just put together my 15 15 leam and after some cuts my machine started to lose its way after the second pass when the third pass starts it gets lost and cuts where it is not someone has had this problem Thank you very much PD excuse me my English is not good hehehe
Hello Emerson, could you please reach out with this question on the public LEAD 1515 forum so that we all learn together. https://openbuilds.com/threads/openbuilds-lead-cnc-machine-1515-60-x-60.16447/page-5 Alternatively you can contact support from the Part Store as well and they can help, thank you in advance. http://support.openbuilds.com/support/tickets/new
Possible"bug" in Drill toolpath Fusion360 Openbuilds Post Processor? code produces Z-10...wrong direction? I have code comparing drilling 4 holes in corner of stock with the 2 post processors, Generic GRBL and Openbuilds Fusion Post Processor. I tried to include however the Forum only allows 420 characters
With the origin at the top of the stock all Z cutting motion is negative, perfectly normal. Z negative motion will move the bit through the material. All CNC machines must follow the 'right hand rule' for motion directions, even if they are upside down like the Phlatprinters. Please create a forum post and attach your Fusion file so I can look at it.
Using Right Hand Rule Z+ is up... This processor gives me a -Z 10 to start and plunges and moves x,y... It should start with +Z10 move to x/y and begin cut
Hi, I downloaded the files for your K40 build, perfect for using my K40 to make the parts to improve itself. On opening in Inkscape there is a message which says I should convert to R13 in Qcad. I tried that but Qcad adds a load of random lines. Never had this issue, Inkscape usually opens these files with no issue. Do you have the files in a different version, or a suggestion how I get them to Inkscape. Thanks
HI, I'm sorry but I'm, not an inscape user much these days. Maybe try any other tool like librecad or freecad, dont use them either but should work. Even Fusion 360 would work
Hi Chris, I am in the UK and making a build that looks like the OX & Piranha style build. I am after a full set of plates - my machine is based on a 1000mmx1000mm with HGR20 rails C Beam Extrusion 80mmx40mm & Block ball screw Rm1605-1000mm It looks like your 9" Sphinx kit may well work, but not sure if US extrusion is the same as that in the uk? Also, would all of your threads and screws be in imperial?
The latest update for the blackbox has it not working and it will not jog. I tried the fix that you said ut that didn't work.
Hi George, can you please post your question in the support thread for the BlackBox so that we all learn the answers together. Thank you in advance - https://openbuilds.com/threads/blackbox.13735/page-28

The latest update for the blackbox has it not working and it will not jog. Can you walk me through going back to a previous install?
Hello @mcallisterracing Could you please do me a favor and ask these questions over in the forum section so that others that may have the same questions will also get the answer when searching for it. Hi there Gary I think I figured it out how to send message. lets work together to sort out the PhlatPringer.
Hi Guy, i suggest you post this question as a Post in the general forum so the community can chime in on this.
Hello Mark, I am building an Aluminium boat from a kit. ' metal boat kits dot com ' . I need to CNC plasma or router cut Aluminium sheet up to 6000mm long . Is it possible to extend the length of your table to 6000mm . Many thanks David in the UK
Hi @David Simmonds sounds like a great project! Instead of making the machine bigger I think you may be better off to cut the entire work in sections (or tilling as some cams call it) The idea is you can run a continuous job on the same material.
Some Vectric software can do this feature please have a look https://support.vectric.com/aspire-questions/item/how-to-machine-a-project-larger-than-my-cnc-work-area I hope this helps to get you pointed in the right direction. This sounds like a good one for us to to a quick video tutorial on in the future. Thank you
Hi Everyone, I am a newbie on the open builts and trying to automate a NEMA17 linear actuator bundle with lead screw; my main goal is to automate with an ARDUINO + step motor drive a horizontal linear movement back and forth with a couple of limit switches; maybe even to vary the motor speed with the help of a potentiometer. Can I kindly have your feedback and direction as what components do I need?
hello and Merry Christmas to everyone I have a doubt in the bad case the blackbox has a problem with a driver rather than another device will be possible to replace it or it will be destinate to the garbage?

Mark Fletcher Mark Fletcher I am about 7 days old in the CNC world. I am planning to build the 1515 Lead CNC. I have a few questions: 1. Will the structure support and operate correctly with a 2.2kw water cooled spindle? 2. If not how detailed can a router be? 3. I will not need a speed machine but I do want an accurate and precise machine. Any help would be nice. Thanks Mark Fletcher.
Hi Mark, Welcome to the rabbit hole! :) The open-CNC world is very exciting! 1) I don't use a Lead 1515 in my shop but a custom build which is quite similar. To support a 80mm 2.2kW spindle you need a proper spindle mount. I use this one currently: https://www.rovercnc.com/collections/cnc-machine-components/products/80mm-spindle-mount
You may have to make an adapter plate to interface it correctly, but this mount is the one we use. The structure should support it well. Our 2nd shop CNC is an older OX build and also uses a 2.2kW 80mm spindle. 2) & 3) The precision of the Lead 1515 shouldn't be affected by the heavier spindle as long as your stepper motors have enough torque.
You can use high inductance NEMA 23 motors if you care less about speed and want more holding torque at the lower end of the speed range. In my experience the real-world precision is determined by the software, no-backlash in the lead-screws, and available torque. 0.01mm cutting accuracy is attainable depending on your CAM. More if you tools are sharp and you run "spring" (repeat finishing passes) on parts. Alex

I just finished assembling my black box 4x controller. I have 24vdc power supplied, I have the switch turned on, I have the nema 17 motors wired, I have limit switches wired. On the trouble shooting tab, I see the switches change state, but the motors do not turn, I see the numbers on the Openbuilds Control change, but the motors don't move. I;ve tried everything I can think of. Any help?
Hello @John Heath Welcome to the OpenBuilds community. If you would not mind could you please post your question over in the Controllers forum so that the developers will see it and so that others can learn from it in case they find they run into the same issue. I thank you in advance. https://openbuilds.com/forums/controller-boards.28/
I had the same problem and following the advice of others, I went back and checked my connections. The block box kit has several sets of two wire connections. I had used the wrong ones. I switched them out and that solved the problem.
