Good morning, I am a complete newbie at this, I have been working on a routing machine. I have the X axis and the Z axis built with stepper motors on them, two on the X as its fairly long. I installed the power supply and black box from Openbuilds, downloaded the Control software and the G Code generator. I went to jog the motors to see if I was on the right track, the software connects through the port, I put in a command to jog left and the Control software indicates the controller goes from idle to jog,,,,,, then back to idle. I don't have the connections tightened on the motors yet so they can spin freely. Nothing is happening??? Is there a tutorial or book or instructions, that will take me through all the process to set this up and run it? I really appreciate any direction you have. A machinist friend of mine ask me if this was "conversational software or Gcode" Kevin Sheets
- Did you load up a Machine profile from the Grbl Settings tab yet? (if not https://www.youtube.com/user/OpenBuilds/search?query=blackbox+wiring should have a video for your machine with a section on loading the profile, getting started etc. - Power supply on and delivering 24v? (if not, see docs:blackbox:connect-psu [OpenBuilds Documentation] for instructions around the 230/115v switch) https://www.youtube.com/user/OpenBuilds has many see start [OpenBuilds Documentation]
Thank you, the profile would be a custom machine. I guess as this is not a kit or preconfigured. I will look at that tonight when I am home. Kevin
Apart from setting $4=1, also check Is the fan spinning, LED behind logo lighting up? If not, you don't have power into the BlackBox. Check wiring polarity, check that the plug is seated in all the way, check for loose terminals, check 110/230v switch on psu, double check all power switches on
Oh what I would have given to have a speargun and a float on June 3, 2015. I was up in Alaska and caught a 6 foot long halibut while in my 12 foot long inflatable kayak. I had nothing with me to land and subdue it. I tried to keep it on my line and tow it about 1000 yards to the beach but it got its second wind and decided it wanted nothing to do with me and snapped my light gear. We were told there were no big halibut in the bay by the lodge yet and they would come in later in the season when the salmon came in. Therefore, we were totally unprepared.
