So i bought the blackbox, power supply, router DWP611, limit switches and adapted it to my China Frame with 23NEMA motors, connected everything and gave it a try, and it sounds awful plus the motors are getting really hot. do you guys know what can cause this....
Are the motor wires paired up properly? The wire codes may not be the same as the OpenBuilds sourced motors. docs:blackbox:faq-identify-motor-coils [OpenBuilds Documentation] If it is moving smoothly the directions you want, then this is probably not the problem. It is hard to say with just the description of "sounds awful." Did you turn the current up on the motor drivers? If turned too high they may get hot.
I think is the acme lead screws, The noice is from the motor binding they are different than the the 8mm acme rods from openbuilds .
If you are using the same lead screws and anti-backlash nuts as what came with the machine they should be paired up properly and not bind. If you changed screws that could be a problem.
Giarc so you think i should replace my motors? I tried jogging the X to either side and the motor is actually binding... when i turn everything off and jog the X by hand it moves freely ... Okay i just disconnected the motor from the coupling and turned on the machine and tried to jog the motor to the left, and the outcome is as follows. Moving in 1mm increments by jogging the motor with the openbuilds software, the motors seem to bind. When i jog the motor to the left it forcefully moves 1mm and when i jog to the left again, it moves 1mm to the right.
Giarc Thankx a bunch with your help and a little research on how to connect the wires to the switches (A+A-/B+B-) the machine is alive and jogging the correct way
Warm is normal, Hot is not. So depends on how hot it is. You should be able to put your hand on the motor and not burn Refer to docs:blackbox:currentadjustment [OpenBuilds Documentation] and turn down any axes that runs too hot
Peter let me ask you something; do the icons on top of the adjustment screws on the black box, are they supposed to be on every time you turn the box on, because I only have the motor icon lid up and not the rest
Ok one more thing Peter; when I home the axis the Y goes the opposite way do you know what can cause this? Also what king of grease/lubricant can I use for the acme rods
