Weird. 1 mm equals .04 ( actually .03937) inches. Are your settings right and saved before restarting? Let me go out and play with mine to see if I can replicate it.
I do not know. I just started playing with OpenBuilds Control with my new lathe build. I use something else for my CNC router build.
Hi Mark, I had an issue today connecting my black box controller to my window 10 computer, see attached error message. I have had no problem in connecting to this computer and a laptop in the past, and have run my machine no problem before today. I have tried removing the open builds software and reinstalling. I have noted I can not find my GRBL settings to add my lead machine 1510. It is obvious that I am doing something wrong. The black box is running okay and I have power to the USB connection. Hope you can guide me through this problem Regards, Mark See my USB port COM 3 Settings. I have noted when the power supply and the black box is powered off, I note the green connection light is no longer illuminated.
I can't replicate: 1 i start CONTROL, connect to Grbl 1.1 on a BlackBox 2 switch to Inch Mode 3 click the 1" increment 4 Click jog buttons, moves 1" (machine is calibrated) and DRO shows 1 inch of movement. What are you doing differently? PS your screenshots shows 0.000 not 0.04? in your post above at OpenBuilds CONTROL Software
I was just showing where I was seeing the .04 in the DRO Steps 1-4 are exactly what I was doing. I went into my GRBL settings and noticed the "Lead 1010" settings were no longer selected in the drop down and instead set to the "custom machine" settings. I re-enabled the Lead 1010 and now the DRO is showing 1" traveled when the 1" increment is selected.
I have checked my USB Com 3 Port and it says it is working properly - see attached. I have checked all of my wiring and connections and all connected correctly. Note no USB connection light on the black box, changed USB cable, same issue. What is PORT INFO: Port closed? Perhaps the black box is faulty, have you had issues with the BB similar to this problem before? I have had the machine working perfectly before yesterday. I just connected to my old laptop that I used to set up my original software and connections, same issue and error messages. It seem that the USB connection at the serial in to the black box is faulty. There should be a connection green light on at the BB even if the black box and power supply is switched off. I am not going to pull the BB apart, as to avoid warranty. Are you able to send me a replacement unit and I will return this one back to you? This is a inconvenience as I wanted to run my first couple of jobs this weekend. Kind regards,
Refer to docs:blackbox:faq-usb-connection-faile [OpenBuilds Documentation] In particular, note the Last paragraph: if the steps in 6.3.1 to 6.3.5 does not resolve the issue, then, as per 6.3.6, contact the Store for a warranty process. The Forum cannot help with that. See
Had an issue today where the first 2 operations (from Fusion 360) worked fine but the 3rd (outline cuts) were massively offset on the Y axis incorrectly. I ran the job first thing this morning without issue. Installed the latest version of OpenBuilds during morning tea and then ran the same job again. The machine is a chain driven with a very slim chance there was a slip but maybe it got stuck on something. Still not sure why it happened. I am 99.99% sure there is nothing caused by OpenBuilds updating but just wanted to check if there was anything outside of the changelog that might have caused an issue. The rendered job still looks fine in OpenBuilds Control. I am running on a Blackbox. I am assuming the answer will be "of course not you fool, otherwise it would be in the changelog" but wanted to make sure just to rule out a software issue.
The beauty of open source is you don't have to take our word for it. Use Github to check see the commit log and dig right in OpenBuilds/OpenBuilds-CONTROL
maybe you clicked the setzeroY button between jobs? or maybe you fusion jobs have diffrent WCS settings, say G54 for 1 and 2 and G55 for op3
Hi Peter, I contacted the Open Builds store regarding the issue with my black box, they have not responded to my surprise. I am unsure what to do next? I contacted one of your suppliers/agents based in Melbourne - Carrum Downs - Maker Store. They have asked me to send them the screen shots of errors to see if they can help me. I am a little frustrated at the moment as I have completed my project and can not use the equipment.
Check your spam folder, and try sending another email. They will get back to you once they have worked through your issue.
I checked this after your reply and it’s all the same but I think it’s a mechanical issue now. Thanks for your help.
I have a open build machine I built its 4`x 4`, I`am going to be buying the black box And 3 more nema 23 high torque motors when i go to set up the controller software, what machine will I pick when it ask to put your machine in ..
pick something close then adjust your settings as needed. That's what I had to do. If you're currently running a grbl based machine, then use the same settings. The only thing you might have to do is make sure that $4=1.
None, or a similar one. Read the text at the relative steps. The profile just fills in values for you below, then scroll down and customise to your liking. See github.com/gnea/grbl/wiki to understand all the settings
Is there a way to revert to a prior release of the Openbuilds Control? I updated to v1.0.258, and now the software lags, won't run a job (I click on the Run Job button, and nothing happens), and I get a message in the Serial Console which reads "[ Websocket ] Disconnected. Openbuilds CONTROL probably quit or crashed" pretty frequently.
Nothing changed in v1.0.258 that could cause that, so I would recommend uninstall, cleanup, reinstall after a fresh reboot. Check for things that can interfere with port 3000/3001, and update graphics card drivers.
Hi guys, forgive me if this has already been addressed and also if I’m posting in the wrong area. I’m a little new here and still learning how to navigate. So my windows XP computer that I was using to run my CNC router via a parallel port through Mach three took a dump on me. I have a windows 10 computer 64-bit system with a parallel port And Mach three is not happy. I’ve seen some options out there but I was wondering if the open builds control software can run on windows 10 64bit and still utilize my parallel port to communicate with my current machine and set up like Mach three used to. Thank you guys!
So I saw this thing TourBox - The Ultimate Controller for Creators and immediately wanted one for video editing but also wondered if it will work for CONTROL? As far as I can tell it has interface software where you can link the buttons and knobs to keyboard shortcuts for any target app, so it should work so long as CONTROL has enough shortcuts mapped (the idea being to avoid the keyboard and mouse entirely so this device is an all in one hand control) wot ya think @Peter Van Der Walt ?
