I can't seem to edit the title of post below so reposting for assistance with better title. My X-Axis is basically stopping/stalling during movement. Earlier input was alignment, so I took everything down, and ran some tests. And motor stalls without any load. Just light finger pressure will cause it to stall. See video, pressure on the shaft stops motor, just hums till last movement... Used 2 different motors, same results. Checked my Z-Axis the same way, again both motors, can't even apply enough pressure to stall, it just does it's thing. Thoughts? Now really confused. Only thing I can think of is something with the driver? Black Box and open builds high torque motors.
What Feedrate where you running it at? Steps per mm set to? Max feedrate and acceleration settings for Z is set to? (too fast pulses, driver stalls out)
Acceleration is at 150. For speed I'm at to 2000. Sorry I'm not identifying units, but out of the box on Control. I'll go check now. On the X-Axis, I have pegged the amperage or voltage setting. But on the Z I'm at 200 & 2500 respectively.
Peter, but to your point. Just dropped it down to 1200 and can't stall it by finger pressure alone. I'll put axis back together and re-test. If that's the speed, I guess that's the speed, just wondering why I can run the other 2 axis's at 2500 plus? Same acceleration. Went through same process with the Y and finally started stalling at about 3800-4000.
How high is the current turned up? Post your Grbl settings please. The high torque motors are stronger, the regular motors are faster (lower enertia) . But 1200 still a little lower than expected so check the current adjustment
Voltage is maxed out on the X. speed and acceleration indicated above. Increased Y slightly to get the motors slightly warm, same with X (voltage) But its the Box, just replaced it with my old unit (Box), or other machine I'm getting ready to give to a buddy. That unit is about a year old, about 400 hours of run time? My old box runs my new machine like a different animal. Didn't even realize my grbl settings had all changed with the swap. Everything auto set to 4500 and 200. Ran like an animal, super happy all around, air cut at a scary speed with the 1605's, need to add some weight to my bench. Dropped them back to "normal", or exceeding what was failing at a couple hours ago and zero issues. Ready to cut something! I'm boxing up the other and shipping back, already have hours into the troubleshoot, maxed out on that front. I do appreciate the assistance, but it's the only thing I can point to.
