    Hi all
I have just built myself an Openbuilds 1010, very pleased with it although I have a Mikita router and did not have the adaptor ring so have just ordered that today.
I am however a little concerned around the noise the machine may make. I have it in a shed between my house and my neighbours so I am keen to keep the noise to a minimum. I am considering buying a water cooled spindle. Something like the HY01D511B VFD with 1.5KW Spindle.
I was just wondering if anyone would have any recommendations or any pointers what to look out for?
    Thanks

Whatever spindle you have, will be drowned out by the noises come off the cutter :)
    Stock vibrates, chips make noise.

Best solution, add an enclosure, use some insulation foam for the panels, to block the noise: OpenBuilds Modular Enclosure System

I just picked up the AMB 1400 DI. It is a 1.4HP 3500 - 25000 spindle. It is 220V, so I wont be able to get it up and running tomorrow as I am waiting on my 220v double pole breaker (this is what happens when you try to be fancy and get special order breaker panels, the Leviton Smart panel, Home Depot sells them, but online only, and drop ships from Leviton directly.. takes a couple of weeks sadly), nor do I have a 43mm mount (I ordered one from the link in a post here, search for 43mm, only a few threads show), although I might just make a ring adapter out of PVC trim boards that they sell at the local hardware store

Was not too expensive, 500ish, they have a number of them in the range including 110V 800w 0.8HP models for around $300ish. They are spindles, not trim routers, and as such, have the appropriate bearings, are more quiet, although like Peter said.. once you start cutting, you can't really hear the router, but it has less runout on the spindle itself.
