Looking To Build A CNC Router For Making Guitars

A Happy New Year to All! I'm a newbie here and looking for some help to build a CNC Router that will be capable of machining guitar bodies and necks. I'm not looking to do this commercially but as a hobby but would still like to build a machine that's strong, capable and durable enough. I have built 6 guitars in a community work space on a large machine so I am familiar with using one.

While I have been researching different types of CNC routers I think I've just confused myself more. I'm hoping that the experienced folks on this forum will make things a little clearer for me. Size wise I'd like to build something along the 2ft x 3ft size or thereabouts. There are probably some folks here that have built one for what I want to do.

That Lead 1515 is certainly a very sturdy build but for my purposes it is way to big. I'd only be machining one body or neck at a time. It's also out of my budget range.

Thanks Peter but the platform is still too big. I really only need something that's about 24" wide by 36" long. It could be longer but not wider. I have space limitations.

 

Thanks for your response. I won't be cutting anything 36" long. The stock I use for making the neck is 30" long. That's the longest piece I would be machining. I would think that 1000mm would be long enough. The width of stock for the body can be 15" or 16".

Thanks for the info. Doesn't make much sense cutting the 1010 down for minimal cost savings. I may ask for a quote just to see.
