Hello all, Newbie here with first build in progress with a Lead CNC 1510. 1515 is too big, 1010 is too small, Lead CNC is cheaper than WorkBee equivalent, but I wanted the Blackbox motion control system to keep myself from frying chips. I also use the Openbuilds control software, but my machine is not one of the available options to set defaults as of yesterday. See attached picture. I'm thinking of using the Workbee 1510, assuming that the settings are the same. Of course I would prefer not to assume. Can anyone tell me if I need to change any default settings from the Workbee model? Thank you in advance if you can help me. Kerry from Arizona
The profiles just populate the values below. Any changes made from a standard machine, simply scroll through and change as needed. All the machines we supply does have profiles So yes, pick the nearest similar one, then review the values further down the screen for any differences between your machine and the original
Hello Kerry! I have an Lead CNC 1510 too and I can't find the settings. Which setting do you have? I tried put the profiles of workbee 1510 but don't work nice Thank you
I had to slow everything way down to keep the motors from losing steps. I'll tell you exact settings when I can get to my machine later today. It was a trial and error process though. Maybe we can compare notes.
Thank you Kerry. Yesterday I put the lead cnc 1010 profiles and work but I think it was very slow travelling :/
Keep in mind, motors bought from OpenBuilds can go a lot faster (low induction motors) than some chinese suppliers machines can (cheaper, high inductance motors - generate Back-EMF that causes stalling in the motor itself) - we spent a lot of time developing ideal motor specs Our profiles are tuned around our parts after all, so substituting motors, one can expect to at least dial back acceleration, possibly Max Rate as well. Or replace the motors with our low inductance motors. As we don't offer a 1510, we can assume the motors are from some other source?
NEMA 23 Stepper motors, 1.26Nm I didn't think to check inductance, believing the torque was the only thing that ultimately mattered. Can I buy a stepper motor directly from Openbuilds?
At the same torque, yours actually have more inductance/phase than the Chinese counterparts. Am I misunderstanding something?
depends on whether you trust that what went in the box,is what they say went in the box. If you can't run them fast, the symptoms say more than a printed model number \
As I recall, that's what I did, and then just increased the Y extent. I put in a ridiculous value and then nudged it forward to the actual value. I wound up with 1330mm I think.
Cool. I will modify the settings. The openbuilds staff could do a new version of firmware with our cnc model. Thank you!
Unfortunately that is not an official machine, and we cannot in good conscience help the knockoff companies by including their machines, sorry We have profiles for all the machine designs we supply, and the Grbl wiki provides the details on the Grbl parameters, so you can easily create your own. If you want to check if a supplier is an official reseller, http://support.openbuilds.com/support/home can check and confirm for you. There are companies pretending to be resellers, so be careful.
Subtract 500 mm from the 1515 profile. You can enter custom dimensions. All my machines are custom and it was a simple process.
