    Hello,

I just finished building my new Lead 1515. However I am having trouble with the GRBL setting. When I choose Openbuilds LEAD 1515 my NEMA 23 2.45 high torque motors jump and lock up. This happens on the Y and X axis. Y1 and Y2 get out of sync and are not aligned. The Z seems to work fine in both setting. The X does the same as the Y. When I use the setting Openbuilds C Beam XL they seem to work fine but maybe a little loud.

Hoping that someone has experienced this and has a clue what could be causing this issue.

Thanks in advance for helping with this.

    Regards,
    Jim

    Hello Peter,

I should have put that in the thread but that is one of the first things I checked. However, I will do so again. Any other thoughts as to what may cause this.

    Regards,

Measure including any extension wires, could have a break insice insulation somewhere too.

    Hello,

    Thanks for your suggestions.
I still cannot find a problem with the wiring. I am using 22 AWG 4C Shielded Type CL3P/PPLP.
It looks the same as the wire on the NEMA's. Could that be a problem. I was told this wire should be enough for these NEMA's. Hope that was correct.
I can send images of my wiring from NEMA's to the blackbox if that would help.

    Regards,

Did you confirm both coils are wired correctly as per the procedure i linked above?

If you are using 3rd party wiring, any other components from 3rd parties (not openbuilds parts) as the profiles are optimised for our parts.

    Hello Peter,

Sorry I am new and do not see a link you posted.
Can you recommend the type wire I should order from open builds for a Lead 1515 using NEMA 23 2.45 high torque.
    Regards,

what is the different in max speed and acceleration settings between Lead1515 and C-BeamXL ?
    LEad1515 3500mm/min and 350mm/s/s
    C-beamXL 1000mm/min and 100mm/s/s

So maybe the Lead settings are just too fast for the motors?

I am suspecting high inductance motors from some other seller?

    Hello,

I have made progress. I changed the settings on Openbuilds LEAD 1515 to the following settings.
$110 and $111 were changed from 3500 to 2000. They now work great. That brings up 2 more questions. Will it move slower and do you think the NEMA motors are not compatible?

    Regards,

    Hello,

Both coils are wired correctly and the NEMA motors are Maker?

If you could provide a spec sheet or a link for the stepper motors it would be tremendously helpful. Thanks.

    I have a freshly assembled 1515, and I had a similar issue. My solution didnt find the exact problem;
I put new ferrule terminals on all wires, and replaced the y1 + y2 wires (my mistake)
Runs perfect- Just need to learn the programs
