Squaring up - Lead1010

    Hey guys,

    Looking for help to repair some issues I'm having with the build. Generally I was milling for some time, did a few project, but I wasnt happy with the accuracy of the machine, I tried tuning it but that didnt help as much as I hoped for.

    Anyways, I came to a point I wont need to mill anything in the nearest future, and most likely I'm having at least a month of a break now,and thought I will commit my afternoons to the machine. I demounted the Z axis, and the X axis, removed all the cables from the machine. And look for issues on the frame itself, because I might have made many mistakes - espescially that this was my first DIY build, of such a machine, and I might have made a few mistakes.

    Looking for help and tips on how could I make my machine as square as possible. Starting from the Y axis I've noticed 2 issues

    1) not all wheels are rotating on the rails - tried to fix that with the eccentric spacer but no luck - what am I missing here? Maybe something is too tight or too loose

    2) Is there any other option to adjust the angle between the C-beam and the linear rail mounted on the cart than adjusting the wheels holding onto the rail?

    That angle Should be 90deg, unless your stackup of spacers differ between top and bottom, pushing the plate off at an angle

    Thank you for the reply, all seems fine in that - I re-assembled the carts but all seemed fine, cleaned everything and simply put them back together. Checked all carts with a digital caliper between the plates and all are pretty even +/- 0.1mm.

    I put them back on the C-Beam - and had all 8 wheels spinning no prob - but when I screwed the C-beams to the base - some wheels have no contact to the profile. I'm really clueless whats wrong with this.

    Do the wheel adjustment after attaching the upright, as the added rigidity of the uprights attached to the plate, pulls it more straight

    This thread is similar to my concern. I built my new LEAD1010 last weekend.
    Adjusting eccentric washers as recommended during build. But a couple days into getting to know machine I tried pushing my Z beam back and forth front to back and seemed to have too much play and also noticed Y-Axis wheels usually 2 tight while other 2 loose. Tried adjusting eccentric washers to snug stuff up. Got it pretty decent but there is still play. I have a TRAM tool arriving by end of day. Tonight or tomorrow I'd really like to nail this down and move forward with some level of confidence that machine is properly adjusted and the best it can be.

    Loosen all eccentrics fully.

    Loosen the wheels on the fixed side - the holes has a little play in them - press the wheel inwards before tightening again to ensure the shoulder of the bolt is in contact with the edge of the hole thereby moving the wheel inward just a little.

    Repeat for all wheels on the fixed side. Now adjust eccentrics.
