    Dar CNC Guru's, please share some wisdom.

    I'm planning to start small shop in production of hobby parts mainly made from G10, Micarta and hard wood. First i was planning to go with Stepcraft 600D, but than i came across quenbe Pro from SPAM.

    Will quenbe be able to handle 3D carving similar to the pictures below on those materials.

    From what i understand it will also be able to handle aluminum, but can it also handle some light work on titanium?
    I'm not planning to make a truck door, just so you know, just some minor work. ;))

    And the last one. There are different controller version available.

    On Aliexpress they have those versions:
    UC300 Mach3
    High Torque GRBL
    NVUM Mach 3
    STB5100 Mach3

    On their own website the have those options:
    UC300 Mach3
    High Torque GRBL
    Maker Shield GRBL
    CNC xPRO V5

    From what i understand, we're dealing with 2 main options, either go for Mach 3 software or for many open source options with GRBL.

    Personally I'm looking more towards GRBL as i also want to get the Linux version of it.
    But which one would you advise? Also keeping in mind that i would like to upgrade to 4X setup in the future.

    P.S. can this machine also for example make an M5 thread in Alu or Ti?

    Use the search box above, terrible knockoffs. Rather see openbuildspartstore.com

    Hi Peter,

    Thanks for quick response. I've checked RatRig and it looks very interesting. I will look in to it definitely. as it looks more solid indeed.

    But can you also assist me with my other questions about milling materials and such?

    Regadrs,

    Jev

    Any of the LEAD machines will do that

    Thanks a lot for all the info guys.

    I'm actually changed my preference towards lead cnc now as it seems to be more easier to work with and upgrade if needed.

    Precisions wise they are the same i assume?

    Also guys do you have an advise for spindle, 1.5 KW should have enough power for all those tasks?

    I'd wager the stiffer uprights of the LEAD would be a little better (;
    Consider the Tension upgrade parts for even better performance

    If you are buying a LEAD bundle from us, you can get your hands on the RoutER11 RoutER11 CNC Kit - all the precision and collets of a VFD spindle, none of the setup complications, EMI issues, and other painful parts of a full spindle setup. Simplicity...

    Hallo Peter,

    I'm definitely considering openbuilds at this moment.

    Do you know if and when there will be an upgrade kit for Lead CNC 1000 by 1000 for linear rail system?

    Not likely soon. The whole linear rail thing is kind of a myth (;
    The perceived mythical flex issues doesn't come from the wheels, it comes from How to calculate V-Slot® deflection - which even with rails you still have to be mindful of. Keep in mind these are hobby grade machines, with a 1/10th price tag of the pro stuff, and handle your cutting recipes accordingly - of course still amazing capable, but just be careful of the "marketing" and seperate it from the science :)
