Hey there everyone - I've just built a Lead 1515 from the kit bought off from the parts store. I'm running into some small issues that I could use some help on - hoping the community can guide me in the right direction here. 1) Lead Wheels / Gantry carts On all of the X and Y carts, I have at least 1 wheel loose. I've tried to adjust the eccentric nuts, including loosening the screws on the cart, adjusting and re-tightening. I have checked squareness of the machine using a 321 block at each corner and it looks square to me - no daylight between the joints. What can I do to troubleshoot this? 2) Shaking screws loose I've had the machine chuck a couple of screws out of the Z gantry. I've since re-tightened but would really like to avoid having that happen when the machine is running in the future. Is there any reason not to use locktite to secure screws in the gantries? Thank you in advance for the help!
Loctite is awesome. Go for it. No reason not to, i think the videos exclude is because beginners may benefit from taking it apart and redoing sections to correct mistakes mostly. Regarding the loose wheel, loosen the other side, press sideways so its up against the edge of the hole, retighten - taking slack out of the static wheel takes up a little space so the eccentric can adjust more
Thanks for the advice on the loctite! I've continued to have the machine vibrate screws loose, so blue loctite has become my friend. Is this indicative of something that i've done/am doing wrong? I don't see anyone else talking about this issue, so I assume this is specific to my build or how I'm using it. On the wheels, I tried what you suggested and it doesn't seem to have made a difference. Do you have a video that demonstrates this (or a timecode for where in the build instructional video it shows this)?
I have not had many screws come loose, but I used loctite when I first built it 5 years ago. I think many people go the loctite route right away to hopefully avoid loosening of the screws.
