Is the router 11 just a version of the Grizzly Trim router? Laminate Trim Router with Plunge Base at Grizzly.com Also, is the spacer ring available by itself?
Actually, the Grizzly is a cheaper version of the Makita. The Router11 has higher quality bearings and is designed for the ER11 collet. You get a few common sizes with it, but you can buy other ER11 collets too I assume and they are inexpensive. I have a Makita. It has been running great for years, but for me to get the versatility of the ER11 collet system, I needed to spend an additional $140+ on precision Elaire collets. Also, I have another version of a Makita clone for my lathe. I can tell you that I definitely notice it is NOT a Makita. If you do not want the RoutER11, I would spend the extra $20 and get a real Makita
Already have the ER11, no complaints. Just curious. I'm considering using 2 mounts on it so mor interested in an additional spacer, but I could 3D print one. If they are not real expensive I'd rather save the time.
For parts queries, best to speak to the people at the Store directly: http://support.openbuilds.com/support/home And yes, ER11 is somewhat based on familiar models, but with a lot of re-engineered components where it matters. Genuine NSK angular contact bearings, compared to plain ball-bearings in the others, ER11 precision collet tapers and nuts (compared to "oem" collets usually only available in one size, and being a cast part, rarely runs true). Balanced rotors and collet nuts, custom power cable, and many other little pieces of secret sauce inside
You can buy them with a machine bundle only: "Due to popular demand, the RoutER11 is available as an option on machine bundles only."
