Help I have a job that is made up of 4 parts, I have cut this job four times and it performed as designed A day ago I got to the third part and from the Zero point it moved the bit in the wrong direction, completely off the part, I homed the machine and then re established the zero it failed two other times all after homing and re zeroing, having cut this many times , why would the machine do this nothing has changed each part gets engraving and then a contour cut,
Loosing zero is usually related having set Max Rate too high in Grbl settings (causing stalling in long moves between parts) - dial it down a little, retest
Hello Peter Thanks for the fast response, I have not changed anything in the set up, the 4 you see in the part should be cut about 8' to the right of zero but in the error it starts the cut an inch and to the left , are you speaking of the three slide controls on the attachment
Negative, I mean the Grbl Settings > Max Rate gnea/grbl of the axis that looses position Nothing attached, photos of your failed cut would help
I had this issue with my lathe, it worked great on short moves, but on longer moves it would stall and loose steps so I reduced the max feed rate and acceleration.
Rereading the issue, but if it really moved the opposite direction, you could also have a bad connection on the motor for that axis: See docs:blackbox:faq-identify-motor-coils [OpenBuilds Documentation]
