Nut Block Stripped MAYBE?

    Hi, I have a Openbuilds 1050 been working great for a few years now. But now the left side of my Y is not moving the same pace (dragging) as my right side. Could it be that the Nut Block is stripped. I don't see any other issues. The motors spin ok, the rail turns on, I put a new coupler on thinking that was the issue. I am clueless. Any suggestions? I just ordered 2 Nut Blocks.

    I'd think it's unlikely, but a stripdown is the only real way to check.

    May rather be:
    - slightly loose setscrew on shaft coupler/pulley causing slippage
    - intermittent wiring issue
    - acceleration / max rate value tuning needed (stalling during rapids on one side)
    - maintenance time: readjust wheels, check for binding, clean dust off, lubricate leadscrews with PTFE dry lubricant (never use oil), etc

    Peter, THANK YOU for the quick response. I sprayed PTFE on the lad screw and I checked all wiring and re-tightned but did not help. I did notice a few wheels are tight and I tried everything with the eccentrics but does not help. I just ordered new wheels and eccentrics. Do you know any experts in Southern California that would be willing to look at it if I can't fix it?

    You'll figure it out :)

    While you wait on parts, disconnect the motors and just test them in isolation: See docs:blackbox:faq-identify-motor-coils [OpenBuilds Documentation] - maybe over time a terminal's gone loose or a wire broke off somewhere inside the insulation as mentioned earlier:


    Also:

    Did you test with lower Max Rates yet?

    Peter, I isolated the issue to one Nema 23 motors. I separated both motors from the lead screw and noticed one motor hesitating. THANK YOU so much for your help.

    Use the link above to check the wiring. Motors very very rarely go bad. Wiring on the other hand: Loose terminals, pinched insulation into terminal, stripped to short, wire broken off somewhere inside the insulation on a stress point (repetitive bending / strain) - that's more likely

    And do check this too - if it falls behind when it gets up to speed in particular

    Peter, you are the best.... it was a green loose wire on the back of the blackbox for the y motor.
