Don't worry about your dated skill set. It has been about 20 years since i worked with anything CNC and I was able to build an OX CNC without any issues. If you get stuck ask for help, someone will come to your aid (Most likely multiple someones) And most builds have been documented very well, along with long discussion threads dedicated to solving issues and adding features etc.

The hardest part for me was finding free to cheap software that i was happy with and performed well, at first it was quite a struggle, now i'm in a happy place :)
    Good Luck with your build!

As I remember, I believe the travel cutting area of the 1515 sized OX was:
    X Axis: 1320mm
    Y Axis: 1275mm
    Z Axis: 69mm
    Hope this helps

I measured mine by jogging the axis to the limit switch but not crashing it. I laid out a tape measure and then chose a point , any point you want, on the gantry. I then jogged to the other end to a point just before it hits the end of the machine and measured on the tape the distance traveled. I put that into the program.

I can confirm the Y is 1275. Well, actually I squeezed another mm out and it is 1276 on mine.;)

Bryan, my Ox is custom plates, HD Ox 1500x1000. Can see my build on my page, since the build I switched to a Blackbox.
I had a lot of experience with Autocad so now I'm using free Nanocad 5.0 (like an autocad clone) and ESTLcam for cam and its built in sender with Blackbox.
    Cheers
    Gary
