Good day everyone, I ask for help with my CNC 3018 PCB board milling. I’m new to CNC 3018 as beginner. I tried mill for PCB to made own Diy Z probe from YouTube, YouTube link: but PCB End Mill break, I downloaded Z probe from this link, I opened fusion 360 and save as NC file for UGS. I successfully tested to mill on wood with V cutting bit, the I started mill with PCB mill bit size is 0.8mm, but it don’t cut the PCB board deeper. I tried to made deeper and it is worse to cut and PCB ugly look. Check attached files to see picture of damaged PCB mill bit and board.
0.8mm is an extremely small tool- very fragile and very little chip evacuation. Probably only good for cutting out copper traces on PCBs, not for actually milling FRP. Start over from the CAM step with a 1.5 or 2mm end mill and it should be more successful- assuming your feeds and speeds are correct, which shouldn't be hard to look up for FRP.
Not sure I understand you fully Chris but are you trying to route a PCB using a regular 0.8mm straight shaft cutter? What you need is a V shaped tool, perhaps 30 degrees with say a 0.2mm tip if you want to route a pcb.
Indeed. AKA, fiberglass. The stuff PCBs are made out of, assuming you're using a standard FR4 board and not something else. He wants to cut full-depth shapes out as well as isolate a solder pad, from the looks of the video thumbnail.
