Hello This morning I connected the OpenBuilds Extension Limit completely according to the drawings . In addition, I also connected the Openbuilds XYZ probe and it all went well. Now I still have 2 questions, before I start the program, do I have to change something in GRBL to make both active and if so which one? Do I have to change the debounce distance as well? Sincerely A.J.W.E. Klappe
Up top in CONTROLs Grbl Settings tab, next to the machine selection there is a simple switch for "limit switches installed" flip it ON, click save Remember to Home
Thank you Peter. Monday morning I'm going to try this out and then I hope to be able to play with my machine again. Have a very good weekend.
Hello Peter, After activating my limit switches I was able to run the home sequence and noticed that the X and Y axes were going the wrong way. So I changed the invert homing and now it works as it should. The probe also works now, but the disk is pushed aside by the brushes of my dust extractor (Homemade). for now i stuck the disk with tape but i'm going to think how i can solve this in a proper way. I want to thank you for the assistance and also a big thank you to the people who came up with this. Bert Klappe
Checkout our dust boot for inspiration: Dust Shoe for Routers It uses magnets to allow you to easily remove the brushes for bitchanges, probing, etc - might be able to incorporate the idea into your homemade one too
Hello Peter, I've looked at the openbuilds dustboot before, but mine is different. openbuilds dustboot goes up and down with the router and mine sits on the workpiece and the router can go up and down without the dustboot moving with it. It is attached to the side of the router brackets with two sliders and it works perfectly so far. I've already made my first workpiece again, a holder for the probe so that I can put it in there when not needed. Another thing, when I attach the magnet to a two millimeter bit, it falls off as soon as the gantry moves and so I had to push the emergency button and start again. The last time I attached the magnet to the collet and it stays in place. Is that a good method? thanks Bert
