I'll start off by saying I am extremely new to all things CNC. I have some knowledge in 3D printing having built a core-xy 3D printer but have decided to purchase a CNC. I will add my g-code understanding is mediocre at best. This is the current setup I am running Lead 1515 Blackbox Controller Open Builds Software GRBL 1.1 Running off a laptop with windows 10 All mechanical and electrical elements are working flawlessly. All end stops and motors function as they should when homing or jogging. When I started my first cut everything went as it should to start off. I got the first little bit done before I receive an unknown error code 31 (PORT ERROR : Writing to com port (GetOverlappedResult). I managed to fix this error and started the cut again. The cut got about 10% further than the first one before I received Error code 9 (G-code locked out during alarm or job state). After hours of research and a few failed solutions I simply disabled the hard limits and homing in GRBL settings. Once again I started the cut. The cut got another 15% further than the previous cut and then stopped and I received Error code 22 (Feed rate has not be set or is undefined). I ran the cut again after the Error code 22 and the cut got another 10% further than the previous cut and just stopped all together without any error codes at all so I figured maybe a surge caused this shut down. I ran the cut again and it got about 80% done before I received an error code that only briefly flashed my screen or I accidently exited out of. It said something about moving or proceeding the probe position before it drove the bit right through the middle of my work piece and went home without raising the z. I removed the damage material, loaded new and hit run again. No more error codes just pausing mid cut and random intervals. If i turn the homing or hard limit back on I still receive Error code 9 at approximately 10% intervals. Also I forgot to mention that I have separated all my low voltage cables from any power cables and have my dust extraction and the router plugged into an entirely separate circuit to help prevent EMI. My router cable does not route through the drag chain but rather up and over the cnc machine away from any low voltage cables. I am using a standard shop vac hose and cutting MDF which I have read can cause static. Could the static possibly cause interference? Its exhausting trying to figure out a solution for multiple randomly occurring error codes. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Mike

You are a life saver! I just finished my second successful cut. I actually just ended up removing the shop vac entirely and it worked perfectly both times without any issues. I really do need some sort of dust extraction though.. Could you recommend a hose that people have had success using on the lead1515? or is there another trick. I was reading that wrapping a hose with copper wire only removes static from the area that is in direct contact with that copper so the exposed areas can still generate a lot of static.
