Hello Mechanically I’m decent. Electrical I’m an idiot. Lol so what’s the biggest stepper a black box can support? I see the literature stating the 4amps. But what limitations on volts? Meanwell from open builds is a 24 volt. Is it possible to run the 425oz motors off the black box? Can I add a 36 or 48 volt power supply? As my machine grows. So does the weight, lol. Thinking the 4amp. 425oz motors may be a decent option. But figured I’d ask. Most of these recommend a 36-48 volt option.
The BlackBox can optimally run all the motors and machine bundles we supply (openbuildspartstore.com) - it is aimed at the beginner market more than the critical high performance market - and for a beginner like yourself, the ideal first choice being easy to wire, and basically get going with as little fuss and learning curve as possible. You should also be able to run 425oz motors come the time, but due to their larger inductance, will have a little slower acceleration curves running off 24v. Higher drive voltage allows faster acceleration. BlackBox is 24v only. But unless you are making something crazy outside "normal" our High Torque motors will handle anything you throw at it already
Thanks Peter, placed an order for the high torques. Keeping the same system package as the black box makes sense. Construction of it is going pretty well, hopefully post a build or at least show some first movements. Just a bit heavier machine, so just asking the question.
Here is the machine. Guess it’s not to much bigger than a normal workbee. Linear rails seem smooth too. I think I messed up and went with 1605 instead of 1610 ball screws. But I’ll see how it goes.
I’m trying to do the same thing want to know if I can somehow use the black but power the motor to 36-48volts I would like the extra power
