Hello, I've been using open builds with my x carve pro for about 8 month now with zero issues. I started having some issues with my machine last week and was recommended to update my firmware. I did and now openbuilds says there is no compatible firmware found on the machine. The firmware version is Grbl 1.1h-XCP.20220314a. My machine connects to inventibles easel and operates just fine. Inventibles says that I need to contact openbuilds about the issue.
Who made that suggestion? Grbl has been stable since 2016 and shouldn't be "updated" just because That said, firmware flashing can go wrong and brick your device - was there any errors during the flash? What tool did you use? Sure you selected the right chip/board/signature?
Inventables. The controllers firmware was updated via easel, Inventables software. It said the upgrade was successful. The xcarve runs fine from Easel, but any software that I use other than it cant find the machine. Everything is on the correct port. These are the settings that it changed everything to. $0=10 $1=255 $2=0 $3=14 $4=0 $5=0 $6=0 $10=3 $11=0.020 $12=0.002 $13=0 $20=0 $21=0 $22=1 $23=3 $24=25.000 $25=750.000 $26=250 $27=2.000 $30=24000 $31=0 $32=0 $40=0 $100=42.353 $101=42.353 $102=160.000 $110=7620.000 $111=7620.000 $112=2540.000 $120=500.000 $121=350.000 $122=500.000 $130=1219.200 $131=1219.200 $132=130.000
So you are not running stock Grbl, but some firmware fork from Inventables - thus other software is not seeing "grbl" but this other fork/firmware and thus why it cannot find the firmware it expects to find. If you can find a copy of the firmware binary we might be able to help with workarounds, or just flash stock Grbl back onto it
Id prefer to get it back to stock Grbl, but i'm not sure how to go about doing that. Could you point me in the direction of what software I would need to do that and where I could get the stock Grbl firmware? Thanks
Okay, I'm there. Which controller type would the x carve pro have? And i'm not sure about the door interlock aswell.
If you are unsure of the Door interlock, then you probably don't have an enclosure, with a door, with an Interlock I thought it was one of our controllers (as you were asking for support here - assumed you did the famous BlackBox upgrade to your xCarve) - so assuming Uno, but that's going to be on you
No, it's the controller that came with the xcarve pro. Inventables told me I needed to contact openbuilds about it not connecting to my machine. So is there a way to do that other than here? When you say "its on me" does that mean if I try to flash it, and its not correct that it will mess the machine up? I'm not sure how all of this works. I'm just use to the machine working as its supposed to.
Our software is really for our machines and our customer base - its free and you are welcome to use it of course - and I'm happy to help you out here just a bit - but it doesn't really come with full tech support for non customers No I'm saying its not our hardware, so we are not familiar enough with it - that we can't say for sure. It's on you to decide if you want to proceed, keeping in mind the above:
You don't have any instances of Easel still up in your web browser from updating do you? That might keep CONTROL from finding it because your X-Controller is still attached to Easel...Good luck.
No. Inventables told me that they changed the baud rate to 57600 for the x carve pro. So I downloaded USG and tried to connect with it at 57600 and it worked. I don't see a way to change it in openbuilds.
