I have a new, never used 6040 (SXCNC) machine sitting here (was a gift) and although I have Lead to work with, rather than dumping it I was wondering how easy it could be to "cut the cord" on the horrible controller box they have and wire it up to use the Black Box? 5 minutes with the software and the controller it has made me walk away from it. I'm not deficient, just would rather migrate the controls over to a better system and wouldn't mind it if someone already has done so and could save some grief or pitfalls ahead of time. Thoughts?
Lots of conversions, super easy. Get a BlackBox, get our Power Supply and Xtension Limits too (the ones that come with the CNC are dubious at best, don't rish it) See docs.openbuilds.com/blackbox
I realize this is an older thread but I was wondering how to locate some information on these conversions? I have tried using the search option but haven't been able to find any good info for using the blackbox on a chinese 6040 cnc. I just ordered the components to do this as my old chinese controller finally bit the dust, I have been using the original controller for a couple years now with only minor hiccups until recently when it finally bit the dust so figured I would give the blackbox a shot. Thanks Bill
You should be able to replace the controller with a Blackbox. Here is the documentation for hooking things up. docs:blackbox:start [OpenBuilds Documentation]
you need to identify the coils in the motors, then connect them to the blackbox. docs:blackbox:faq-identify-motor-coils [OpenBuilds Documentation] if the machine has limit switches you can ignore them and 'fake the home' or you can identify the wiring and connect them to the BB. all in the docs Giarc pointed to I believe.
