I have been using my Lead 1010 for quite some time. Now the X feed is hanging up. I have adjusted the wheels several times and it still is hanging up. each time it hangs its off by 1 inch. any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Hi @William Harper, forgive me for being thick, could you explain what you mean by "the X feed is hanging up" - do you mean it's stalling? Is the motor stopping or the movement of the X gantry? Alex.
If you (power off first) disconnect the motor from the leadscrew can you manually move the X gantry all the way across without any sign of binding? Does it always stop in the same place? Have you overtightened the nut blocks? (you should only tighten them to the gantry plates enough to stop them moving and after fixing the first one gently squeeze them together before tightening the second (the aim is to have each one touching one side of the thread, but not gripping tightly). Thanks for the quick responses Alex. I did as you requested and there was no binding moving the gantry with my fingers. It will bind in different places while working. Sorry but I don't have a Facebook account

Does it do this while jogging, or only when running a job? If you are using lightburn what are your feedrates in lightburn , your max feedrate and acceleration settings in your controller config? (grbl settings if it's a grbl controller). Alex.
It sounds like maybe too high of acceleration. The X is used at high speeds going back and forth for rastering which may be why it shows up using lightburn
Only while running job. max feed rate is 150 and it is a GRBL controller. it is moving fast but it will get a quarter of the job done then start binding.

OpenBuildsCONTROL > Connect > Grbl Settings tab > Backup Settings button on top toolbar And what unit? mm/second or mm/minute?
In Lightburn GRBL 120,121,122 rate is set at 700mm/sec. so I read this correctly I should slow this down until it stops binding! correct!
Yes that's crazy: 42000mm/min after conversion Belt drives are usually around 10000mm/min, leadscrew more like 3500-5000mm/min Note that Grbl uses mm/min, Lightburn's mm/sec can cause unit confusion so stay aware of what unit you should be working in and multiply/divide by 60 as needed) So yes, lower it until it no longer stalls, but start nearer a proper ballpark figure first as shown above
