I have been able to run whole jobs, including "Hello world" with no issue. However, recently I can't finish even a simple operation without getting an errors:
    A. Less often, the gcode simply stops executing. Once when this happened, I just moved the mouse (to wake up the computer) and the gcode started running again.
    B. Bigger problem is this gcode error:"Disconnected open builds control. probably quit or crashed". followed by "Detected a change in available disk drive". see image below...

I'm running an older mac air (about 2013). Software is current .331. I even tried "air cutting" to see if router was issue. I also installed an UPS to be sure my 110v was clean. The biggest change was the move from my house to our warehouse where I wanted to use the CNC. There are about 6 other businesses in my building, but none are big shops with heavy equipment.

I've read the EMI notes generated by open PXL_20220906_220504561.jpg builds, but nothing there seems to fit my situation.

I'm not a mac person, but your symptoms sound remarkably like those caused by energy saving features in Windows - could something on your computer be shutting down your usb port (or another programme trying to use the same port)?

You should disable power saving of all kinds - you were lucky it resumes - more likely can cause machine to run away or disconnect (Serial corruption from USB port sleeping)

Probably also power saving related, but anything that causes the backend process to crash (out of memory, not enough CPU, etc) will present the message, that well as it says, the Backend process was quit, or crashed. Not CONTROLs fault, we are just reporting what happened.

If disabling power saving, uninstalling conflicting applications / clean OS install, etc does not help, then its time to try another PC

The argument of using an old computer to run the nice, new, expensive machine, that actually needs good performance not to waste your expensive material, chase up frustration, and enable you to create masterpieces - is sometimes hard to justify after some consideration.

OK, you hit it right on the head! I checked my mac's power saving and it was set to 15 min! When I got to the shop, I ran an air cut (same one I was having so much trouble with) and it failed about in the same place. OK, it's consistant. Then I got rid of all power saving times and ran it again - no problem, it ran until it finished the job! OK, I thought, let's see if that as a fluke, so I set the power saving back to 15 min. Exactly 14 minutes into the same job, it failed the same way as before! I got rid of the power saving settings, ran it one more time and it completed without issue. AMEN!

    Thanks guys!
