Yea, I fully understand this and have I have to confess: The root cause is sitting in front of the machine, everything is working out of the box. I was always waiting for the icon in the dash on the left side. As I'm using a huge virtual panning screen, I never have recognized, that an icon was added to the top bar beside the system properties: So there is NO issue, besides the fact that I'm a fool.. Sorry for any inconveniences.
No! If nothing else you became another user with a deeper understanding of CONTROL, electron, and all the other under the bonnet goodness! That's something we love! Happy to have dug in with you, in particular your patient approach too! If you were enjoying looking at code just a little too much - then I suspect you may like Getting started with Javascript Macros in CONTROL / Library of Macros created by the community too
Absolutely right, programming now since more than 30+ years and still love to learn new thinks - that's what life makes to be fun Looking into macros? This was the reason why I got into this linux "issue" - I'm not a friend of developing in Windows ;-)
Do you have any test plans / scripts or so? Or what's your approach to verify, if everything is still working once migrated to node v18, electron v20, serialport v10, ...? I also want to split the index.js into smaller modules (e.g. one for ports, one for the jogWindow etc.). Perhaps we also should thinks on the version numbering, as it seems not to follow the commonly used"semantic versioning" recommendation (see Semantic Versioning 2.0.0)
You aren't wrong Though other than us devs, regular users don't care Again, you're not wrong, but ease of reading, easily accessible, less scoping, no modules, etc makes it old school easy for a mostly hacker/arduino/3dprinting/cnc-hobbyist community to learn/contribute/modify. I worked on a different open source project like this (LaserWeb) before joining OpenBuilds - and that project suffered severely from bringing in professional dev culture - a mistake I don't plan on repeating. That said, if you do tackle some work in that regard, lets switch to a Git issue Issues · OpenBuilds/OpenBuilds-CONTROL for discussion, rather than the forum. Happy to go cherry pick from your fork how many people shout at me right after publishing the release Jokes aside - just a quick rundown of basic functionality - with major changes you usually see the breakages quickly if there are any
Randomly saw this. Is new product launch something I should be getting excited about and is it a secret?
Seeing as the post you are replying to dates back to 2019, and from the context (about Z axis move lengths) I guess we can safely assume that those launches already happened. Both the OpenBuilds LEAD CNC Machine 1515 (60" x 60") and High Z Mod for Lead 1010 CNC has Z axes over 100mm Screenshot of the old conversation for reference:
