Hi i was hoping someone could help me troubleshoot my cnc... I am using a black box controller and it has been working fine over the last few month but today when i was homing my machine the y axis motors went in opposite directions and luckily i was there to hit estop before it twisted my frame all up. But now i have this issue when i jog or try to go home one of the steppers go in reverse sometimes... its not a every time thing but about 50 percent of the time it goes in reverse..

Any help would be greatly appreciated

    See docs:blackbox:faq-identify-motor-coils [OpenBuilds Documentation]
Loose terminal, or broken wire, or badly installed terminal leading to only 3 of the 4 wires making solid contact throughout

Just to add to the normal list of items to check regarding a wiring issue and erratic machine behavior.

Also verify that the cable does not have a break in the middle, underneath the sheathing. I encountered a similar problem in the past. I slaved in another cable to verify. Upon removing the suspect cable - I performed a continuity check between the different wires in the small bundle and found continuity between different wires when I would bend the cable to simulate movement. This also can be an issue with shielded cable, causing some wires to short to ground.
