I have installed a laser cutter on my 1515. The 1515 machine works fine, but the laser is not being initiated. The M100 laser is a 24v laser and I followed the "Connecting Blackbox 4x to a 24v laser Module" instructions. The 2 wire cable coming from the blackbox (Gnd - PWM) Tool head is connected to the 2 pin "Gnd V+" connector on the laser controller shown on the upper right of the image. I tried the "Tool on" button but nothing happens. All settings in the Control software appear to be right, laser is enabled. Perhaps I neglected to set some gcode parameters? Thanks in advance!
1) did you remember to provide Power to the laser? 2) did you enable Laser Mode in Grbl Settings and then also use the correct Laser Submenu under Tool On? 3) are you sure the GND/V+ is a PWM input?
Thanks Peter. I disconnected it from the "Gnd V+" and connected it to the "Gnd TTL" on the laser board. The laser initiates but only at one power level. Do I need to connect it as per the "Connecting Blackbox 4X to a 12v Module" instructions? Im not sure, but It seems the "Gnd TTL" is for signal, and the "Gnd V+" is for power.
At the end of the day our generic instructions are just that - generic concepts - some lasers take 3 wires (shared GND), some take 4 (seperate GND for PSU and seperate GND for Signal) Exact wiring support should be obtained from the laser diode vendor for their module If the TTL input does not vary the power, its not a PWM input after all. Question is then where on their module to input a PWM signal
If you have the option, consider returning it and go with one of our recommended vendors? OPTlaser or JTech?
Peter, It was the $30 GRBL setting that needed to match the S value max. Its working fine now, thanks!
Looks good! Don't forget proper PPE! Hit in eye with 1000mw 445nm blue laser (Post #43 on page 3 shows the damage)
Glad I finally found this but I am attempting to wire this exact laser to the blackbox x32 and am trying to make sure I know exactly how this needs to be connected to ensure it operates is there any documentation of your wiring like how you ran wiring and such?
How's it going? I recently got my M100 going on my laser. Can someone confirm that that TTL signaling is 0 to 5v for 0 - 100% power. Seems to work as it is but just want to make sure I can get the full range of power. I'm using a cheap PWM to TTL adapter. outputs between 0-5.8v the way I have it setup now.
Thanks it is working via the Atomstack converter board. However maybe I'll put a diode inline to bring it down a bit.
