Hello, Can anyone tell me what the actual measured clearance is from a 1/2" spoil board to the bottom of the c-beam end cap is after installing the High Z mod? Thank you!
Good morning, if you are referring to the vertical z axis c-beam - that is adjustable depending on the height of the material to be cut/engraved. Other factors include the length of the cutting tool. I keep mine set up to account for clearance of any hold down clamps. Hope this addresses your question.
Sort of... If the z axis c-beam is adjustable, then what is the maximum measured clearance from a 1/2" spoil board to the bottom of the c-beam end cap. To rephrase in a shortened form...what's the tallest piece you can fit on the router?
According to docs:machines:comparison [OpenBuilds Documentation] about 200mm - but if in doubt grab the CAD model from the Build page to properly explore and play with it - you can use Sketchup free to move it around and slide the carriages around etc - then use the built in measuring tools
Approximately 8 inches of clearance - I am using a 3/4 inch spoil board. Another advantage of the high z modification - I was able to increase my x axis work area to 49 inches; which gave me the ability to safely cut/engrave work pieces at 48 inches wide. I have attached an image for visual reference.
