Hi all, somethings gone weird with my Y stepper motor, first noticed I was cutting ovals instead of circles this morning. Hoping to get some more troubleshooting advice, pics attached. It seems like the Y motor is slipping sometimes or not going the distance it's supposed to.

    running arduino with grbl
stepper motor is a Nema 23 Stepper Motor 4.2A 3.0Nm
    motor controller is a DM556

I believe the issue is my Y direction, but I could be wrong about a lot of this lol

I did ohm out the two axis on my Y motor and X motor, all looks good, they match for both of the axis, I tested from the controller connections, so that would seem to indicate the wiring is ok?

Should I swap out the Y motor or controller to rule those out?

    Thanks

Check those motor couplers. Could be an intermittent wire connection causing lost steps.

Thanks Gary, argh it turned out one of the controllers plugs was loose. Wire connections were all tight and good, but these controllers have plugs also, didn't realize that at first. Thanks!
