I have a retrofited mill that has limit switches and one y axis motor that drives the bed. When I start up the machine and home it for the first time, it goes through the normal sequence: Z all the way up, Z down 5mm then parks Then when it does the x and y axis together only the X axis moves (y axis actually seems unpowered - I can twist it by hand) and the X stops once it hits the switch - it won't back out the 5mm. Then the machine is totally frozen. Wont accept jog comands etc. Only after I flip the power on and off (black box does not shut off I guess because of USB power?) does it immediately finish the x move out 5mm and then complete the y all the way to the limit and back out 5mm. After I have done this I can hit home again and it will do all the axes properly... Any Ideas?
Y axis fault indicator on when it can't move Y? Timeout is expected (its waiting for Y to hit, but Y can't move. Power cycle clears driver fault allows it to work)
I am unsure - the machine is at home and I will check today in the PM. As I was connecting my limit switches I was unsure about their wiring - could I have wired one backwards and maybe the limit is triggered immediately on the home for the Y. Only the restart and clearing fixes it? I think that is what you are saying?
I am saying, the Fault indicators for the Y axis stepper driver: See section 1(g) of docs:blackbox-x32:layout [OpenBuilds Documentation] But Check the wiring against docs:blackbox-x32:connect-xtension-limit [OpenBuilds Documentation] first though, incorrectly wired switches can cause short circuits and permanent damage - if that was the case - let us know so we can see what we can do about it If it was wired correctly, first use the Troubleshooting tab in CONTROL to test all your switches a) that they work b) that they correspond to the correct axis (didn't plug Z into Y or X into Z for example?) and c) that they reflect off/triggered correctly (not inverted)
I think that a fault indicator was on in the past. I think I remember it being lit up on y2, I wasn't concerned about it because I did not have a stepper motor attached to y2. No fault indicators are currently lit up I suppose I have micro limit switches. I'm attaching a picture of how they are wired up. The leads are attached to the COM and NC pins. For all of the switches, I get zero volts when they are in the open position and 5.35 volts when they are in the closed position measuring with a multimeter. Also this seems to be the limit switch. An update on this. I may be powering everything up in the wrong order or something. I did notice that I logged onto my computer from sleeping control was already open and connected. I then flipped the main power to the power supply, I was able to jog the x and z but the y had no power to it. I then very simply flipped the main power off and then back on and now the y has power and will jog and the system will home fine. So I don't necessarily think it is a homing issue anymore. I think it is something to do with the why stepper motor not having power on that first interaction...

You are right. The light came on. I am going to try and go through the list documented by your link. I suppose adjusting the current and looking for any short. However, I imagine if it was a short circuit it wouldn't jog smoothly.
I turned it on again today and saw the error light. Every time I restart, it goes away - so I am having trouble reproducing the error in order to troubleshoot. Is there some set amount of time I need to wait for it to reproduce the fault indicator or a specific way I need to power things down?
