I recently received my interface. After setting it up, updating the firmware, etc., the y button started flashing red and the machine started jogging. I couldn't get it to stop, and If I hadn't shut down the power, the machine would have exceeded its travel limit. Thankfully, I have an e-stop installed. My vacuum hose is grounded, as well as the frame on my 1515. So....what is going on? I ran the interface test mode while powering it through usb-c, and all is well. However, whenever I plug it into the cnc, I have problems. Sometimes it randomly jogs, sometimes the button are unresponsive, etc. If it is EMI, what else should I ground? Should I ground the blackbox itself? The interface itself? If so, where would I do that? Thanks for any help.
If it is emi (does sound like it) it's better to try to identify the source if you can - spindle/vfd or router? Mains/spindle wiring away from everything else? Any fluorescent lights nearby? Earthing everything in sight doesn't always solve the problem, and can even make things worse. Show us some pics of your setup in case we can spot something that might be causing the problem. There are some tips in this link that might help. docs:blackbox-x32:faq-emi [OpenBuilds Documentation] Alex.
I have unplugged the router and vacuum, yet the issue persists. The only power is coming from the Meanwell power supply. The button that freaks out is random. Could be x+, y-,etc. Everything is spaced apart enough (I think)
Everything is from openbuilds except for the e-stop and the shop vac. The USB-to-blackbox was also disconnected. I know the vacuum was causing issues with static (randomly disconnecting my machine), but after grounding the hose, that went away. Even after I unplugged the vac and router, the Interface problem is still there.
