    I have a Huanyang 2.2kW Air Cooled Spindle Model #: HY02D211B
Running it with the OpenBuilds Blackbox X32

I have set everything per the instructions in this thread with the exception of one wire.
VFD Spindle Control via OpenBuilds BlackBox Controller and Software

That one wire is the ACM on the same bus bar as the VI. If I have the wire in the other bus bar in the other ACM I get an error 36 in the Control Software when I enter the M3 S10000 command.

If I run the M3 command with the wire on the same bus bar the rpm on the VFD rises to 7800rpm. Not 10000. I have tried to fine tune the speed using the pot switch that Josh says to use and I get nothing. I have turned it all the way both directions and the rpm stays the same.

So the Blackbox is talking to the VFD but the pot switch isn't adjusting the speed.

Has anyone else ever experienced this? Does anyone else have the same model number as I do? Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Had to look it up (error codes mean very little, the text / screenshot of error means a lot more) but 36 = "There are unused, leftover G-code words that aren't used by any command in the block." indicating your gcode became corrupted in transit becaus of EMI: See docs:blackbox-x32:faq-emi [OpenBuilds Documentation] - VFDs create a tonne of EMI, so proper spacing of cables, earthing, shielding and sometimes ferrites are a much needed action on your part.

You can use the onboard potentiometer of the VFD, OR electronic control. Not both

Thanks Peter I will read the link you sent but I have a shielded cable for the spindle and grounded it at the VFD. So not sure why I'd be getting EMI... Or is shielding not always enough... I don't have the wires separated in the drag chain. Maybe its all explained in the link... Let me read and I'll report back. Thanks.

Are you sure the spindle body is earthed? A lot of the cheap chinese spindles leave the 4th pin in the connector floating.

Seperating cables is the best first step though: See Swing Arm

Yes I took the top off to see if all 4 wires were connected and they are. I can turn the spindle on with the control software but I only get 7800 regardless of what I set my speed to.... 50 or 24000 I still get 7800.

Speed setting relates to VFD parameters (motor poles, freq limits, etc)

So do you think it's a VFD setting I'm missing?

Usually, assuming you checked and set the 0-10v as per the Blackbox docs. If it sends the right voltage, then the next stop down the line is the VFD

is that something I could measure with a meter? Do I get more voltage on the tool wire if I send a higher speed from the control software?

Refer the Documentation link above ^ Go to BlackBox X32 page, and work through it. Knowing your controller will just be beneficial
