Is there an easy way to disable Z axis homing (at the same time as maintaining Y2 ganged to X axis)? Or to disable Z axis entirely (I have none, but if the Z axis buttons are pressed it wakes up the X and Z steppers …). thanks
On the X32, running grblHAL, you can Set $44=1 to home X first Set $45=2 to home Y after or Set $44=3 to home XY at the same time and Set $45=0 (currently has value, clear it with a zero) Additional or extended settings Setting $1=255 is advisable to keep motors always on - Step Idle turning the motors off can cause loss of position Grbl v1.1 Configuration
Ok thanks, works. I’m turning the steppers off to avoid any possibility of burning out motors or board at the moment … it is worrisome hearing them humming when stationary … The context sensitivity / mouse over help for the settings seems to be intermittent btw (I get no help for these settings at the moment, for example). thanks
For that to happen the motors would have to be electrically incorrectly spec'ed, or driver current set too high. Its designed to be always on
