FIrst off, yes I am new to CNCs and yes I did google and searched through the forums, so I apolagize if this has been talked about. My issue is when I use the Open Builds Cam software and Control for making a pocket, lets say a 10mm x 10mm x 5mm. It sends the endmill straight down in steps (IE mills.5mm the width of the bit, then drops down another .5mm then repeats all the way through to the 5mm) instead of taking.5mm off the entire 10x10 pocket, then .5mm down and do another layer of the pocket. So basically it peck drills right away. then it goes 30-40% of bit size larger and repeats the process. Everything I see online is when doing a pocket. It does the entire first layer first then drops the .5mm to start another layer. My machine is a DIY CNC with an Arduino running it. (Temporary) Overall it seems to work but I don't like how it pockets.
For the pocket. 3.175 for the bit 30% step over. .5mm step-down with a final cut 5mm. There's really not much to adjust.
