Hello all, I am new to cnc and openbuilds system and am currently building my cnc using the original blackbox motion controller. I am considering purchasing the Blackbox Interface, with the intent to use the OpenbuildsControl software to upload via wifi to the Blackbox Interface, I am confused because I cannot tell if I can connect OpenbuildsControl to the Interface using wifi - I cannot find it in documentation for OpenbuildsControl or OpenbuildsInterface. I can see that OpenbuildsControl allows us to flash OpenbuildsInterface via usb - but no details on how to connect using wifi to the Interface to control movement and upload jobs. My intent us to use the Interface primarily to jog the machine about, but OpenbuildsControl from my laptop via wifi to start a job. Is this possible?
Thanks for that clarification, very helpful. My next question is this: I can see in the documentation that I can upload my gcode via web interface to the Interface. Does it save the uploaded gcode to the usb drive, or internal flash storage on the Interface? My concern is "large uploaded gcode files being bigger than the 4MB of flash" My last question is: "can I control movement of the cnc and/or start a job, using the Interfaces webpage?" or is it "upload via wifi, and do movement and start job from Interface physical buttons"
Thank you both for clarifying things for me. I shall be buying a blackbox x32 and using my original blackbox for another project
The above applies to both. Not sure if you had a different intention for the X32, but the connectivity, interface, CONTROL etc all same same
Understood. My plan is to use the blackbox x32, upload via web ui, then use the webui on my phone as a pendant to control movement and start a job. I'm hoping the above is possible because I've based it upon the following three assumptions: On the blackbox x32 store page there is an image of smart phone which appears to have movement buttons. Then theres an image of the web interface which I am assuming is based upon GitHub - luc-github/ESP3D-WEBUI: A Web UI for ESP8266 or ESP32 based boards connected to 3D printers / CNC which allows the upload of the job. Under "Connectivity" it lists wifi. Am I missing something or incorrectly understanding things? Sorry about the silly questions, I'm really trying.
As you have an Interface, why not upload the gcode, walk over pick up Interface and go for it. Interface is better than WebUI (and you have the wrong link: grblHALs WebUI)
Ahh, ok, I don't have the interface or blackbox x32 yet - im trying to figure out which one to buy, I was lucky and won a $100 off voucher in the 10yr anniversary promo. I do currently have a blackbox x4 though (never used it though, still building the frame). Essentially I'm needing wifi as using a usb cable between my laptop and the controller is really awkward.
