Hi, This is highly likely a very amateur question. But I would like to ask your help. I have two devices: 1) 24 V power supply 2) Motor power supply from Teknic If I connect these two drvices separately to my home electricity plug, they do work. If I connect both of them, my home electricity is gone, an I have to replace fuses. Could you please : A) check if the wiring of the power supply is correct? B) what could cause the shortcut or overload for these two devices? I am not even running any motors. The power socket normally can handle multiple gaming laptops and other chargers in one go without issues. I already tried different v- v+ cofiguration of wires in the power supply. Thank you in advance. EDIT: the problem is actually in the power Teknic 95-125 V, 190-250 V power supply. Is there any way that normal home power supply could handle this?
It's difficult to tell anything from those photos (especially the supply wiring), but you do have two wires from the green plug connected to V- in the first photo. That shouldn't cause any fuses to blow, though. It may help you to carefully draw out a circuit diagram for what you are trying to achieve - If you are unsure where electricity supply wiring is concerned, then *DON'T* guess.
Also, are you 100% certain that the colors of the wire are correct for the power cord? In other words, is the green actually the ground? Or is the blue? When you are plugging two things into the same outlet, and your neutral is inadvertently wired to the Load (or ground) you may not notice when just one is plugged in, but when two are, current can flow through from load to neutral -- or ground -- depending on how it is mis-wired. This would cause the fuse to blow. So, hire someone that knows how to check and hook these up, or check your plugs with a multimeter using "continuity mode" and see if the ground "pin" on the plug has continuity with the end of the wire you believe is ground. Repeat with all three wires.
I narroved down to the issue that the power supply is ok. But the motor power supply is causing the blow... The supply and the cable comes from the company, I did not even create anything. Just plugged into the socket. Can it be that US power supply tries to take 250 V, while Swiss one is able to give only 230V These are specs from the US supply:
According to the user manual the gray wire jumper shouldn’t be there for use with 230V power. That’s only for use with 120V power.
