So I am building this machine in attached pictures using aluminum extrusion. I had a guy cut out the brackets for me at work. The machine is 8ft by about 5ft. Going to be using nema 23 motors and wondering what belts I will need for this set up. I am used to using a smaller machine I built with nema 17 motors and a ramps1.4 board with sd card. With the nema 23 I don't see an affordable solution for me right now for sd support so I'm guessing the grbl program is my best option?

    Hello Guys,
I need for 4X6 Feet, Nema 23 can be used with Basic Router for wood working. Like i need to know the working area limit upto which Nema23 can be used well. Please let me know as I am struggling to find solution for my problem.

The motor has very little impact on that choice. Secondary to both What drive System? And What about Deflection?

A kit takes out a lot of the trial-and-error, mistakes, problems, etc. A proven design is a good choice when you have doubts on things like Motors. Thats the easy bit, the thousands of hours of engineering towards the rest of the machine over a decade of iteration is pretty much priceless

Max leadscrew length limits that idea. Only available up to 1500mm axis

    Only available up to 1500mm....

So you go for a 3rd party screw? Its low quality and its calibration is all over the show. You decide to compromise all precision and push onward.
Except now that too long leadscrew whips like crazy... So you try upgrading to a bigger screw. But now you need custom endplates and different bearings. The third party screw has a smaller pitch so you compromise speed. The heavier piece of metal spins up slower so you compromise acceleration. You spend $$$ on custom endplates, and custom nutblocks or mounts for off the shelf leadnuts that has no way to fit. A month or two passes as you wait for the custom plates. They get in and you realise you never accounted for the extra offset the bigger screw needs. More $$$ and time as you fix that in a second iteration. Machine up and running you realise the decreased leadscrew pitch and increase in inertia means a machine half as slow for that extra couple inches. All whilst a standard LEAD1515 does handle a 4*8 sheet.

Look the system is modular, own designs are encouraged, but there are real limits. Physics

So I just made the purchase today of the blackbox x32 motion controller and the interface cnc touch. Where do I start on learning how to use this system and how to integrate it into the machine I am currently building that I listed in the start of this thread?
