When setting up the x,y,z axis where should the X-, Y-, Z- be located far right corner if you looking at the front of the machine if that makes sense.
X- is spindle / tool far left Y- is Spindle / tool at the nearest edge of the work area (so gantry nearest the front for a moving gantry machine or table furthest from the front for moving table machines) Z- is spindle / tool down
The back, right, up corner of the machines workspace is ALWAYS the maximum for each axis. Normally with a CNC mill/router that is zero and the co-ordinates become more negative as you move away from that corner. Alex.
What controller are you using? If you jog; X+ve should move the tool right Y+ve should move the tool back X+ve should move the tool up If it doesn't do that we have to get that sorted first. Alex.
Black box when I set it up as said above it goes positively I’ve tried reversing the axis it go’s negative but words the front
Your ENDMILL must follow the Cartesian standard: Cartesian coordinate system - Wikipedia To do that, fix any axis that goes the wrong way round, in CONTROL > Grbl Settings tab > $3 Dir Invert > flip the switch for whichever axis is going against the Cartesian Standard. The ARROWS on the Jog buttons are a quick and easy way to know - if you jog Y+ which way does the arrow on the button point? Did your machine move the ENDMILL in that direction? If not, flip the Y axis switch in Grbl Settings > $3. If it did, DONT flip the switch that axis is fine then. Same for Z and X. Ignore the numbers on the DRO, they'll make sense when you HOME and SETZERO - for now just make it jog the right way first. Once machine complies with standards, then you use $23 to tell the firmware where you installed the switches. And then you load jobs and start zeroing and that sort of thing
X+ moves Left Z+ moves up Y+ moves Y+ moves forward towards the me All numbers go positive from farm right moving in opposite direction not negative
Ok so I bei got that part figured out, but now when I home all everything seams to go correctly but the Z+ gos up instead of down to home not Z- , but when I probe it goes in the correct direction is this correct should Z home be all the way up
Z SHOULD HOME UP! Up and away from Clamps. Also, cartesian standard Z+ UP and that is correct. Homing "downward" is a terrible idea will cause tonnes of crashes. Move your switch so it homes on the way up
Thanks for the reminder on this. I must have watched this video 5 times, but forgot about some of it. Also found out my design a was trying to cut out I setup in the wrong quadrant when I made it in F360. and that was why it was backwards when trying to run the program. Once I figured out this it Thanks again for the help and info. Im sure Ill have more soon enough
Well Its been awhile sense I postd on my progress. But everything seams to be going well. Ive compleated a couple projects, and currently working on another. Gotm another question. Ive been using Easel for my current project and wondering why its using the far right as the strting point. insted of the closer left if that makes sense. When using Fusion 360 I havent figured out where to place the object Im working on/ It gives you a grid I placed where I though it should be but ends up being in the total opposite dricetion or all backwardshere to place you project in F 360 Ill include a pic so you might get what Im trying to say . In Fusion you set an origin in the Cam setup. I don't think it matters where in the grid in a sketch you place your object. Alex.
Ya Ive tried this but how do you know which ways forward on the Y or Backwards on the Y or have I missed something (most likely)
Usually your Y motors are at the back, but the other clue is that your on X axis the tool moves to the right (when looking at it from the front) when you move in the +ve direction. Alex.
