This is my setup but the result is the same...This toolpath contains 1 open vector(s), and 0 closed vector(s) :-(
Make sure it really is a closed path. docs:software:file-errors [OpenBuilds Documentation] And make sure after converting it to polyline it is still closed. CNCs need closed paths
Just to share my experience with both open and closed polylines. Not sure if it is a feature of the CAM I use, CamBam, or the CAD, CMS Intellicad. I have zero issues with open polylines. My machine accepts both open and closed. The only instance I require a closed path is for a pocketing operation. Nearly 80% of the glyphs I recreate are comprised of open polylines. Therefore not understanding others issues with open vectors? Perhaps it is related to the requested machining operation for the vector. Also I export my DXF files as AutoCad 2000 ASCII format and have experienced zero errors to this date. Just contributing to the knowledge base of this community.
OpenBuilds CAM needs closed vectors for any offset operation (inside, outside, fill and pocket). Give it clean proper files and alls well. Open vectors can't be offset by Clipper (geometry library)
Hi Peter, yes I agree but I don´t know what is wrong with my drawing. Enclosed you can find the origin file. I´m not able to create in Solidworks the right dxf file.
I don't have Solidworks to check but a quick Google shows others have trouble too, see solidworks export polyline dxf closed vectors - Google Search Otherwise might need to go Solidworks > DXF into something like Autocad/qcad/fusion/draftsight > fix the opened lines > export to DXF again Or check in with your Solidworks support team

Finally found a way for Solidworks users to save closed paths that work with OpenbuildsCam. 1. Create a sketch on your 3D model face, that contains your paths. 2.Convert all features (perimeter too) with Convert Entities. 3. Use Fit Spline command on every feature to make all your pockets etc. into closed paths. You'll have to mind the tolerances within Fit Spline so it does not change your path shape. 4. Once all paths are closed, turn that sketch into a surface with the Planar Surface command. 5.Hide your 3D model but keep the new surface (only) showing. 6.Take your new surface into a Drawing and "Save As" DXF. Do not right click the face and pick "Export to DXF". This will not work. 7. As said before, pick DXF options while saving and click checkbox to convert to polylines. Save and done. Enjoy!
