Thanks for taking a look I hope you can help
I have a homemade cnc I bought last year and the control board finally died with a great smell of ozone a few weeks ago.
This is a large table with gantry. Running XYZ and A that was slaved to X on Mach3.
The motors are from Xylotex and ran through a parallel port connection.
    I purchased a blackbox32x
However I have a larger power supply than the 24v. The lowest I can adjust is to 30v. I have attached pictures the motors are all the same model. I just want to know if using what I have on hand will this work or should I hold off until I can get other materials. Has anyone else used these parts with success?
    Thanks in advance
    Don

That will damage the BlackBox. Get a 24V Meanwell Power Supply Bundle

Find a datasheet for your motors and confirm their electrical specs.

    Ideally you want:

Coil voltage: 3-6v (Higher will be slow on acceleration)
Inductance 1-2mH (higher will limit top speed)
    Current rating: 1.7 - 4A Max

If your motors are too different, replace with ours

Due to budget restraints at the moment. I have swapped the adjustable potentiometer in the power supply I already had. I now have 24.87v and 16 amps which seems to be within operating limits of the open box. I have examined the data sheet on the motors and they seem to fall within range please take a second look on the attached PDF.
    Thanks again
    Don

5.5v coils and 8mH inductance - will be a bit slow but will run

Peter I hope you are still following :) thanks for your previous help. I'm still having issues retrofitting this and for the life of me can't get the motors to engage. I only have the following connected: Modified power supply set to 25v. Blackbox 32x. 4 motors and PC running Linux mint with permissions set for the software to connect to the 32x with no problem. Openbuilds software. I have used my my multimeter on the limit switch contact points and I get 4.4v. I have attempted changing grbl settings $4=0 back to 1 among other things still no movement. The wiring is also correct and I have checked continuity multiple times still to no avail. I'm guessing it has to be something simple. I'm lost and I'm not sure what I'm missing.
    Thanks
    Don

Use our recommended 24v PSU and

Our recommended settings (CONTROL > GRBL Settings tab > Select machine from the list > Save and reset when prompted)

All it needs to move motors are
    1) good 24v power
    2) correct Grbl Settings

    Well and
    3) not been damaged by some weird 3rd party PSU, wiring short, or similar

And lastly (but symptoms won't be dead but rather weird and shaky)
    4) motors wired correctly (docs:blackbox-x32:faq-identify-motor-coils [OpenBuilds Documentation]

Thanks again Peter. So I do have the correct 24v going to the box and it outputs 4.7v on the limit switches. However you are correct the issue is when adding the new variable resistor this allowed me to adjust the voltage to 24v but also DECREASED amperage to the black box. The meanwell psu im using only pumps 10a to begin with while the open builds is a 14.6amp PSU. So after modification my pay is likely to be pumping near half of what is required. I will need to get your psu to move forward.
    Thanks
    Don

Update I got the correct meanwell Peter suggested. Still nothing worked and for an entire week and most of today I couldn't figure out why it wouldn't work I tried grbl settings and checked connections I went crazy. I took it completely apart. I realized at some point since buying the blackbox I installed the servo jumper- today I removed it. And just a few moments ago it all worked......all because of a misplaced servo jumper.
    Happy Building
